Parents with more than two children will relate to the struggle to find affordable hotel accommodation for their family. Even when we can find one that will take us in a room as a family of five, we don’t really like staying in hotels as when we do, we end up spending the evening just sitting in the bedroom or downstairs in the bar.
We have found the ideal solution however in central Wexford.
The Talbot Suites at Stonebridge are the newest addition to the Talbot Hotel Collection located in the heart of Wexford Town and are just perfect for large families or groups.
We wanted to spend a few days in Co. Wexford so we booked three nights in a two bedroom courtyard apartment. Unfortunately all the sea-view apartments were booked out.
On arrival, we checked in at the main reception at the Talbot Hotel and were given our keycard access to our apartment and the car park located beside the apartments. Parking is complimentary for guests at the suites.
These self-catering apartments were recently awarded 4 star Faílte Ireland self-catering accreditation and I’m honestly not surprised. When we walked in, I couldn’t believe how bright and spacious the apartment was.
The Kitchen
The open plan kitchen dining living area was massive. The kitchen was like something from an interior magazine. I really loved it, in fact these photos aren’t just for this review, I’ll be keeping these images for when I remodel my own kitchen at home.
The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and coffee machine.
I loved the starter pack with tea towels, detergent, dishwasher tablet, two coffee capsules etc.
The apartment even has it’s own washing machine and dryer which I was delighted to see as we had some muddy clothes of a coasteering adventure nearby.
The bedrooms
As well as a large family, I would recommend this two bedroom apartment for three couples too. The sofa bed in the living room would comfortably sleep two adults. At €145 per night, that would be €24 per person per night which makes this accommodation option amazing value.
The two bedrooms are luxuriously decorated with super comfortable beds.
Cooking in the Talbot Suites
These self-catering apartments have full access to the facilities at the Talbot Hotel next door, the leisure centre and the restaurants.
However you won’t have to go anywhere for food, you will want to stay and cook all your meals at the Talbot Suites and this will save you money in the end.
The Outside Space
There’s a lovely communal outside space with a view of the old grainstore where the kids enjoyed handstands on the fake grass for hours on end.
