Slow Cooker Baked Beans

This are few things more satisfying than waking up to these delicious homemade baked beans on toast for breakfast. Dust off that slow cooker, try this recipe and you won't want to open a tin of beans ever again.

 3 onions (peeled and finely sliced)
 Half pack of smoked streaky rashers (roughly chopped)
 1 tsp olive oil
 1 red chilli (seeded and chopped)
 1 tsp brown sugar
 2 x 400g tins plum tomatoes
 200ml vegetable stock
 A splash of Worcestershire sauce
 A few drops of tabasco sauce
 2 x 400g tins cannellini beans

Heat the oil in a large frying pan

Fry the rashers for a few minutes

Add in the chilli and fry for a further minute

Add in the onions and fry until softening (about 5-10 minutes)

Add in the sugar, tomatoes, stock, Worcestershire sauce and tabasco sauce

Cook for approximately 5 minutes

Transfer into the slow cooker and add in the beans and mix well

Cook on low setting for 9 hours

Serve on hot toast
